MMA’s Executive Director Mike Bona, Business Representative Jim McKane, and Attorney Ron Rollins concluded the third meeting on Thursday, January 25, 2007 with Department of Employee Relations representatives, Sandi Blaeser, Liz Koncker, and Carolyn Trevis. Discussions focused on MMA’s concerns surrounding the State’s previous proposal/offer presented to MMA in a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on December 15, 2006. Click to review a copy of that draft MOU.
MMA conveyed a number of major concerns to DOER during the January 25 meeting including the issue of retroactivity (only going back to November 29, 2006); the compression issues that were exacerbated by the proposed salary changes; and the low-cost method of implementation. Overall, DOER’s proposed salary changes were an improvement but inadequate when compared to the salary changes agreed to in the MNA contract settlement. DOER agreed to take another look at the salary information we provided them and consider our concerns, as stated above, to see if any modifications to DOER’s draft proposal (MOU) would be made. DOER’s “final” written proposal/offer will be forwarded to MMA as soon as DOER completes its internal review and discussions. Once this information is received, MMA will decide whether to sign the “final” MOU. MMA will provide an update after we receive the State’s written response. Again, thank you for your patience in this matter, and please contact the MMA office if you have any questions.
