As many of you already are aware, Jim McKane, MMA Business Representative, retired on April 1, 2008 . Jim was an exceptional employee and we wish him well in his retirement. Taking Jim’s place is Tony Brown, who started with MMA on May 28, 2008 .
Tony was with the State of Minnesota for over twenty years. He worked 12 years with the Labor Relations Bureau of DOER and over 8 years in the Labor Relations Section at Mn/DOT. His duties and responsibilities included advising supervisors and managers on labor agreement issues, hearing grievances, presenting grievances at arbitration and representing management in the collective bargaining process with several of the unions and associations. He was the Mn/DOT and DOER representative on the management team during the MMA contract bargaining for eight rounds of bargaining including being the State’s chief spokesperson for the 2005-2007 MMA Agreement.
As a result of the staffing change, there will be only minor changes to departmental assignments. Tony will assume the majority of Jim’s departmental assignments and duties. We are pleased to have Tony working for MMA and welcome him to the MMA staff and team, and know that his experience will allow Tony to hit the ground running in his new position.
