Thank you to the 700 MMA members who took the time and effort to participate in the 2007 contract survey which was conducted on our website from March 1 through April 1.
The top two priorities were the same as in the 2005 survey. The number one priority was General Wage Adjustments. Health/Dental Insurance was ranked second.
In addition to ranking the issues, members provided over 850 written comments on numerous issues including the need for wage increases, insurance cost stabilization, deferred compensation improvements, severance pay, vacation and sick leave, and retirement incentives.
MMA staff will be completing its review, in the next few weeks, of the current contract provisions relative to issues that have surfaced in the last two years. Staff is also compiling your survey input for consideration by the MMA Negotiations Committee which is tentatively scheduled to meet May 20 and 21, 2007 to prepare MMA’s formal bargaining proposals. Bargaining commencement date(s) are still undetermined at this time.
On the question of discontinuing the practice of printing MMA contract books, the results are as follows:
- actual copy - 353
- electronic copy - 347
The MMA Board of Directors will discuss and decide on this issue at its April meeting.
