Health Insurance Bargaining: Since the start of the open enrollment period, the Union Coalition and State have met several times. We anticipate that future dates for bargaining will be scheduled sometime after the first of the year. MMA will continue to keep members informed and updated as soon as relevant information becomes available.
Master Contract Bargaining: MMA will be meeting with the State this week on December 15th and 16th to start preliminary discussions on the master contract. Because we are in uncertain times, we cannot predict when we will come to you with a tentative agreement, so we ask that supervisors continue to be patient with the process.
Since, bargaining may take longer then normal, we want to make sure that members have the opportunity to ask questions and talk to MMA staff about what is happening. One option that the MMA Board and Executive Committee members have discussed is the possibility of establishing informational meetings, at various locations throughout the State, to meet and discuss with members, the unique bargaining environment we are currently operating in, and to answer any questions supervisors may have about the bargaining process. We are currently working on a plan to do this, one way or another, and hope to have it approved and to you by the end of January.
