ALL SUPERVISORS IN THE CORRECTIONS
EARLY RETIREMENT PLAN (CERP) CONSIDERING RETIREMENT IN 2007.
EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 24, 2007 THE AGE 55 CUTOFF, NOT LONGER APPLIES
Corrections Early Retirement Plan (CERP): The State and the
Association had earlier agreed to continue the plan unchanged
including the age 55 cutoff for receiving the health insurance
benefit. Since that agreement was made, the State has been formally
notified by the federal government (EEOC) that the age 55 cutoff
is illegal and must be eliminated. Consequently, MMA has agreed
that for those retiring after October 24, 2007, the health insurance
benefits will be available even if the supervisor retires after
age 55. Most significantly, the State agreed that no other part
of the plan will be changed, just the age 55 cutoff.
